1500 DRIFTER |
 |
| The
Kawasaki Vulcan 1500 Drifter motorcycle makes a statement about
style and cruiser performance. For 2001, the Drifter has been
restyled with a new five-gallon fuel tank, standard solo seat,
abundant chrome and two new colors. The Drifter still keeps
one wide wheel firmly planted in the past with its nostalgic
1940s appearance, while modern features like digital fuel injection,
dual 36mm throttle bodies and a catalytic converter on California
models keep it firmly rolling toward the future. With its larger,
restyled tank and additional chrome features, the Drifter makes
a bold new statement in cruiser style. |

1500 MEAN STREAK |
 |
| Because
Kawasaki wanted the Mean Streak to be a high-performance motorcycle,
its liquid-cooled, single overhead cam 1470cc V-twin engine
was retuned to make more power. Engineers culled additional
horsepower from the proven motor by increasing the size of the
intake and exhaust valves, redesigning the cylinder head, camshaft
and pistons, and increasing the diameter of the fuel-injection
throttle bodies. Chassis changes are many, and include completely
reworked frame geometry for increased stability and relatively
nimble handling. Sporting touches include an inverted cartridge-style
fork, and air-assisted rear shocks with four clicks of rebound
damping adjustment. Also reminiscent of more sport-oriented
machines are Man Streak's brakes. Front rotors are grasped by
a set of six-piston calipers clucked from the ZX-9R. The finishing
touch is that this Kawasaki comes standard with radial tires. |

800 DRIFTER |
 |
| Once
again the Vulcan 800 Drifter complements its larger sibling
in the 2001 Kawasaki cruiser line-up, but with a few key changes.
With its new solo seat and chrome package, the 2001 Vulcan 800
Drifter is big on style and comfort. For those who want a modern,
mid-sized engine wrapped in the nostalgic style of the 1940s
and lighter than the heavyweight cruisers, the Vulcan 800 Drifter
is the logical choice. |

800 CLASSIC |
 |
| With
a nostalgic look of the '50s, the Vulcan 800 Classic features
deep valanced fenders and a big, fat front tire on the spoked
front wheel. Chromed covers enhance the fork downtubes and are
topped off by a large chromed headlight housing, while a tank-mounted
speedometer gives it a custom look. The low-stepped seat adds
to the low cruiser look and provides feet-on-the-ground comfort
and stability when stopped. By combining modern performance
and handling with the styling of a classic V-twin cruiser, the
Vulcan 800 Classic does more than make a statement about style;
it's a value that lets the good times roll.. |
